ZEGRAHM EXPEDITIONS: Odyssey is Europe-bound

The Bahamas-registered expedition ship Clipper Odyssey (1989/5,218gt) will be sailing in European waters this year for the first time since she entered service in 1989. Chartered by Seattle-based Zegrahm Expeditions, but managed by Miami-based International Shipping Partners, the 110-passenger vessel is cruising to ports in the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Azores and Northern Europe.

Clipper Odyssey was designed by Holland’s Group Acht Yacht Design and constructed by Japan’s NKK Corporation for Showa Line as Oceanic Grace and cruised principally in Japanese waters. In June 1997 she was renamed Oceanic Odyssey when acquired by Spice Island Cruises for short cruises from Bali to Lombok, Sumbawa and Komodo.

In late 1998 she was purchased by St Louis-based Clipper Cruise Line, but continued sailing for her previous operator for another year before being handed over as Clipper Odyssey. Since then, she has been cruising in the Far East, Alaska and Australasia.
