CARNIVAL CRUISES: Carnival Legend coming to Europe

Carnival Cruise Lines is deploying the 2,680-passenger Carnival Legend (2002/85,942gt) from Tampa, Florida, to Europe next year for the first time. Between 22 April and 31 October 2013 she will operate 17 cruises, including a number from Dover to the Baltic and Norwegian Fjords and around Britain. She will also offer cruises in the Med from Venice and Barcelona and between Barcelona and Dover.

Carnival has also revealed that the 2,642-passenger Carnival Destiny (1996/101,353gt), the oldest ship in her series, is also being deployed to Europe in 2013, amid growing speculation that she is to be transferred to Carnival’s Italian subsidiary brand, Costa, as a replacement for the wrecked Costa Concordia. On 4 February she departs Miami on a 16-day Atlantic crossing to Civitavecchia, calling at Ponta Delgada, Malaga, Monte Carlo, Genoa and Livorno. As the timing of her arrival is too early for the Mediterranean season, it is likely she will undergo a refit, possibly at Fincantieri’s Palermoshipyard, prior to entering service in the region.
