Regent Seven Seas: Two ships fail inspections

Seven Seas Navigator (1999/28,550gt) failed a Center for Disease Control inspection at Skagway on 16 June, although details have only recently been released. The failure centred on record keeping, particularly in relation to the quality of drinking water and food temperature control.

Further infractions included food debris being found on serving ware and food being left out too long. In 14 years this is just the second time that the ship has failed an inspection, scoring 79 this time against a pass mark of 86. In two later inspections the ship scored 95 and 97. Another of the company’s ships, Seven Seas Mariner, was prevented from sailing from Livorno on 28 August after routine maintenance work on life-saving equipment overran. The ship eventually sailed two hours late, but the delayed arrival the following morning at Civitavecchia meant that a number of passengers had missed onward travel connections.
