Major boost for Balmoral

Hopes of returning the 1949-built motor excursion ship Balmoral to service during the coming summer have received a major boost in the form of a £344,000-00 grant, spread over the next two years, from the Coastal Communities Fund. News of the backing received tumultuous applause when given to a big gathering of Balmoral supporters in the vessel’s Britannia Lounge by Bristol West MP and Coastal Communities minister Stephen Williams.

‘Work is really going ahead apace in all areas of getting Balmoral prepared to sail again this year. There really is a huge amount to do, and please remember that while there are a lot of exceptionally committed and skilled people working towards our shared aim, we are all volunteers,’ said spokesman Paul Doubler.
