TOUR PROGRAMME 2008
We are delighted to announce details of a 2008 Cruise Club programme highlighted by the most exciting single tour of our 22 year history - a trip to the United States to stay aboard the legendary original QUEEN MARY at Long Beach, California, before a return transatlantic crossing from New York to Southampton with her successor and current Cunard Line flagship QUEEN MARY 2!
 FAREWELL MINI-CRUISE
18-21 August 2008
The historic North Sea ferry route between England and Western Norway will close when the DFDS Seaways vessel Queen of Scandinavia makes a final crossing at the end of August. The Ships Monthly Cruise Club is marking the end of this fascinating service with a Farewell Mini-Cruise on the Queen of Scandinavia's penultimate return trip to Norway departing on Monday 18 August and returning to the Tyne on Thursday 21 August.
There will be daylight passages along the Norwegian coast and a spectacular early evening arrival in Bergen. In port there will be time for an evening walking tour and an ascent of the Floibahn funicular offering stunning views over Norway's second city and the fjords.

SALUTE TO THE QUEENS
30 September to 10 October 2008*
Our 2008 autumn extravaganza (*dates subject to final confirmation) brings a unique opportunity to enjoy the two of the world’s greatest liners, the 1936-built one-time ‘Blue Riband’ holder QUEEN MARY and, upholding all the proud traditions of Cunard Line, her 21st century successor QUEEN MARY 2. The tour starts with a direct business class flight from London Stansted to Los Angeles, USA, before two nights at Long Beach aboard QUEEN MARY where she has been berthed operating as a hotel and conference centre since the late 1960s. Next comes an internal flight to New York for two nights at a four star hotel in the heart of Manhattan where ocean liner expert and long-standing Ships Monthly contributor Ted Scull will be our guide for an exclusive tour of the Hudson River waterfront and a sail past the Statue of Liberty with the Staten Island Ferry. Then we board QUEEN MARY 2 for a seven day/six night full board transatlantic crossing to Southampton with a variety of accommodation options available including inside, outside and balcony cabins. The amazing range of facilities of the 148,258gt vessel will be at our disposal including QUEEN MARY 2’s Planetarium, the very first at sea! Needless to say we will be out to arrange visits to the bridge and other areas of the ship not usually accessible by passengers. Space on this tour will be limited but you can now register interest ahead of the final itinerary brochure and booking form in early March.
All itineraries will be fully escorted by our tour organiser Russell Plummer and representatives of Ships Monthly. Brochures/booking forms for each tour will be available via the internet as a downloadable pdf. Please advise your e-mail address and details of which tours are required. If you have no e-mail access and would like information by post, send one first class stamp for each tour brochure required to: Ships Monthly Cruise Club, 222 Branston Road, Burton on Trent, Staffs, DE14 3BT.
