More heavylift consolidation among companies

Heavylift companies Jumbo Shipping of Holland, SAL Heavy Lift of Germany and Intermarine of the USA have formed the JSI Alliance to market their combined fleet of 50 multipurpose heavylift ships.

Intermarine recently expanded its fleet through the long-term charter of four additional ships, Industrial Fraternity, Industrial Skipper, Industrial Swift and Louise Auerbach, while Jumbo and SAL will start taking delivery of the first of their new 14,600dwt Orca-class vessels within the next few months.

The latter will be equipped with twin 800-tonne capacity deck cranes capable of lifting 1,600 tonnes in tandem while the recently chartered Intermarine ships have tandem lifting capacities ranging from 300 tonnes to 500 tonnes.

The Jumbo ships have combined lifting capacities ranging from 400 to 3,000 tonnes. The new JSI Alliance replaces an earlier alliance between Jumbo and SAL formed three years ago.
