Star Princess, the second LNG cruise ship being constructed for Princess Cruises, was floated out at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard on 26 September.
The ceremony was attended by guests, including John Padgett, President of Princess Cruises, and Cristiano Bazzara, Director of the Monfalcone shipyard.
The 178,000gt Star Princess will be the second-largest ship ever built in Italy and a sistership to Sun Princess, delivered earlier this year.
Able to accommodate around 4,300 passengers, the new vessel incorporates sustainable maritime technologies, and will primarily powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The delivery of Star Princess is expected in autumn 2025.
Princess Cruises operate a fleet of 17 modern ships serving guests across 330 global destinations.
