Oldendorff Carriers has made a return to the ship-selling market, contributing to an increase in bulker sales during February 2025 and providing some optimism into the secondhand market.
One of its latest transactions involves the sale of a 13-year-old Taizhou Catic-built 93,000dwt post-panamax ship named Cora Oldendorff.
This vessel was sold to Chinese interests for just under $14 million. The price is considered firm, especially since Oldendorff originally purchased the vessel eight years ago for $9.5 million.
Last year, Oldendorff established itself as Europe’s leading bulker seller, moving 20 vessels, ranging from younger to older bulker tonnage, and amassing significant profits in the process.
While brokers remain cautious about labeling this trend a recovery, there are indications that the sharp decline in values is starting to stabilise.
