Celebrity Xcel to enter service earlier than planned

Celebrity Cruises’ newest Edge class ship, Celebrity Xcel, is set to enter service ahead of schedule. The company announced in May that the 3,260-guest vessel will now offer a special preview sailing before its official maiden voyage in November 2025. Construction progress has been moving swiftly, allowing Celebrity to launch the ship earlier than anticipated.

As a result, Celebrity Xcel will set sail from Port Everglades on 9 November 2025, for a four-night cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. Despite this earlier sailing, the ship’s official inaugural celebrations will still take place during its 18 November 2025, voyage. To accommodate guests who originally booked the inaugural cruise, Celebrity is offering them the option to switch their reservations to the new preview sailing.

The cruise line acknowledged the varying preferences of its passengers, noting that some travelers prioritize being among the first onboard, while others value participating in the inaugural festivities.

Currently under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France, Celebrity Xcel is the fifth vessel in Celebrity’s Edge class series. Following its inaugural voyage, the 140,600-ton ship will embark on a lineup of seven-night Caribbean cruises departing from Fort Lauderdale.
