Award for cross-channel ferry favourite Barfleur

A favourite cross-channel ferry has received a special award in recognition of its long service. Brittany Ferries’ ro-pax vessel Barfleur (1992/20,133gt) was visited by the outgoing Mayor of Poole, Councillor Pete Miles, during May when a presentation was made to its captain.

The Mayor commented: “Brittany Ferries’ well-known Barfleur has connected Poole with our twinned town of Cherbourg for 33 years and been part of so many memories and adventures. She is a truly special ship, and a magnificent sight to see in Poole Harbour.

“As Admiral of the Port of Poole, it was an honour to present a Poole Mayor’s Award to the Ship, Captain and Crew.” B

arfleur was delivered by Kvaerner-Masa Yards of Helsinki for Brittany Ferries’ expanding Truckline service, and has linked Poole and Cherbourg for most of the past 33 years.
