NEW LIFEBOAT: First Tamar in Ireland

Tamar lifeboat Killarney was placed on station on 27 October 2010 to become the first Tamar to go into service in Ireland. The new 25-knot boat arrived at her station at 1700 on 13 October and was escorted home by the 47ft Tyne The Famous Grouse after a training passage from Poole.

During the trip, the new lifeboat called at St Peter Port, Fowey and Padstow, where she was taken up the slipway so that her propeller could be examined. She thus had the unusual opportunity of being launched down a slipway, although her future will see her kept afloat at Kilmore Quay. After leaving Cornwall, she crossed the Irish Sea to reach her new home.
