OFFSHORE VESSEL: Largest offshore worker

Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven has been contracted by compatriot shipowner Østensjø Rederi to build a 149.8m by 27m offshore construction vessel for delivery during the first quarter of 2016 for $236.7 million. To be completed to a SALT 304 design, the newbuilding will have 2,300m2 of total deck space and will be equipped with a 400-tonne active heave compensated knuckle boom crane.

In addition, it will carry a 150-tonne dual tensioner vertical lay system and a 3,000-tonne capacity under-deck storage carousel. The ship will make use of Siemens BlueDrive PlusC propulsion control technology and will incorporate a DP3 positioning system. JS
