Fred. Olsen has been working with the Government, other UK cruise lines and the industry body to review and agree back-in-service dates.
With vaccines, advanced testing and detailed planning, Olsen confirmed its ships will return to service in a phased plan, with Borealis setting sail on Friday 23 April 2021.
However, Braemar will not return to service in May 2022. She typically sails on Mediterranean and Caribbean fly-cruise programmes, which Olsen see as being too complex to operate during 2021.
All guests who have a booking on these cruises were notified and provided with a number of options, including a no-quibble refund.
The two ships taken by Fred. Olsen from Holland America will be ready for service in 2021.
Meanwhile, another former Holland America Line ship, the 1996-built Veendam (57,092gt), which is now named Aegean Majesty, broke her moorings at Corinth in early December 2020 and ran aground. She was later refloated with little damage.
