Tankers: Twin product tankers delivered

The Netherlands’ Damen Shipyards at Bergum has delivered twin product tankers to De Opfeart Beheer and James Fisher Everard, with both ships to be commercially managed by James Fisher Everard Ltd. The 7,076dwt Kestrel Fisher and King Fisher have been built to Damen’s Double Hull Oil Tanker 8000 design and measure 104.5m by 17m, with a total capacity of 8,363m3 in ten epoxy-coated cargo tanks. Accommodation is for a complement of ten plus one guest.

Each of the 12.5-knot ships, as a safety precaution, features power take-in drives, whereby the diesel generator sets immediately power the shaft generator – mounted on the gearbox – should the main engine fail. In addition, the mechanically generated heat is captured by heat exchangers to be redeployed for heavy fuel oil pre-heating or other use. Both vessels will carry gasoline, diesel oil, lubrication oil and jet fuels in European waters. JS
