Naming ceremony of maintenance ship Wind of Hope

On 1 July 2021 Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group organised the naming ceremony of Wind of Hope, its second vessel dedicated to the maintenance of offshore wind farms, attended by its godmother, the Minister of Industry, Ms Agnès Pannier-Runacher.

The large multifunction vessel has many innovative features and is equipped with the latest technologies to enhance safety and reduce maintenance costs.

The Louis Dreyfus Armateurs group focussed its industrial strategy on the development of Marine Renewable Energies in France and Europe, particularly in relation with the future and first French wind farm in Saint-Nazaire.

With its wind farm service vessels Wind of Change and her sistership, Wind of Hope, Louis Dreyfus Armateurs has built more multifunctional vessels which undertake maintenance work, with good living space for technicians, with a motion-compensated gangway to improve the safety of operations and reduce the cost of field maintenance.

The vessel has an overall length if 84m, a width of 19.4m and a mouled depth of 7m. She is equipped with diesel-electric propulsion and has DP2dynamic positioning. There is accommodation for 90 people up to 64 wind technicians.

Among the innovations on Wind of Hope are a “walk-to-work” telescopic compensated gangway Horizon, the Colibri crane and the hybrid vessel reduces CO2 emissions by 15%

Wind of Hope has been fitted with many enhancements designed to ensure that working hours offshore are as comfortable as possible for the crew. 60 technicians in addition to the ship’s crew can be accommodated for several weeks in individual cabins with sea view and VOD.
