Heavylifter: Dockwise to move jack-up rigs

Heavylift operator Dockwise, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster NV, has been awarded contracts to move two very large jack‑up drilling rigs from Asia to the North Sea following their completion in 2016 and 2017.

Dockwise will employ its semi-submersible vessels Blue Marlin and White Marlin for the projects, the latter still under construction in South Korea. The massive Cat-J rigs to be moved will be the largest and heaviest jack-up type units ever to be transported by ship. They will be taken to the Gullfaks and Oseberg fields in the North Sea, where they will work in water depths offrom 70m to 150m and drill down asfar as 10,000m. JS
