DFDS take delivery of new ro-pax Aura Seaways

DFDS’s new ro-pax Aura Seaways, built at Guangzhou Shipyard International (known as GSI) in Southern China, has been delivered to the company.

With 4,500 lane metres, she will by far become the company’s largest ro-pax ferry in terms of cargo capacity.

With a deadweight of around 12,750 tons, she can carry almost three times more than Scandinavia, the company’s first newbuild of 1982.

Aura Seaways fulfils the new design standards of EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index), and the CO2 emissions per trailer are more than 20 per cent lower than on the vessels currently trading on the intended routes Karlshamn-Klaipeda and Kiel-Klaipeda.

She is eagerly awaited in the Baltic by DFDS crew and personnel, and will serve them well.
