Ever Alp has made her maiden voyage through the Suez Canal

The Panamanian-flagged 23,992TEU Ever Alp has made her maiden voyage through the Suez Canal, from Qingdao en route to Rotterdam.

The head of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie said that the canal has proven its ability to receive giant containerships with a capacity of 24,000 containers.

This category of giant ships specialises in using the Suez Canal to transport trade between Europe and Asia. Two senior guides were on board the ship, and complete its guidance from Ismailia to Port Said.

Ever Alp is the sister ship to the largest container ship in the world, Ever Ace, and is fourth in a series of 12 giant A24 class ships, be built as part of Taiwan’s Evergreen shipping line.

Samsung Shipyards Industries Heavyweight in South Korea is building six ships and six others are being built in China.

The new ship is 400m long and 61.5m wide, with a net tonnage of 221,000 tons, and can carry up to 12,000 FEU on board.
