US NAVY: Another transport ship

The Northrop Grumman-built amphibious transport dock ship Arlington (LPD 24), the eighth ship of the San Antonio class, was launched at the company’s Pascagoula facility on 23 November 2010. The shipyard, which is to become known as Huntington Ingalls Industries, is also currently working on the destroyer William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) and US Coast Guard National Security Cutter Stratton (WMSL 752). Arlington, set to be delivered in December 2011, has been named to honour the 184 people who died after American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon on 11 September 2001.
