2022 series of Tall Ships Races

After cancellation of the races in 2020 and 2021 the 2022 series of Tall Ships Races organised by Sail Training International will feature the ports of Esbjerg, Harlingen, Antwerp, and Aalborg. Current entry list includes 12 class A vessels of which Poland’s Dar Mlodziezy is the biggest, with INS Tarangini from the Indian Navy coming the furthest.

No Russian vessels will be allowed to enter and it is unlikely that vessels from South America will take part as 2022 will see Velas Latinoamerica, a regular event that sees the national vessels in the region sailing together on both Eastern and Western coasts.

This year the event started in Rio de Janeiro in February and end in Vera Cruz, Mexico at the end of June, with a rounding of Cape Horn in late March.

All the South American naval vessels will take part with the exception of Chile’s four masted barquentine Esmeralda, which will be in refit.

A new entry will be the three-masted Barquentine Juan Bautista Cambiaso from the Dominican Republic which was originally the Royal Helena, built in Varna Bulgaria in 2009.
