Cruise ship Amadea makes her maiden call at Poole

Amadea (1991/29,008gt) became the second cruise ship at the Port of Poole in 2022 with a maiden call on 7 June as part of a British Isles itinerary.

At 193m in length, the former Asuka, built by Nagasaki’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for Nippon Yusen Kaisha, also became the second largest ship to ever call at the Dorset port, the previous record being set by Fred. Olsen’s 207m Boudicca in 2019.

German operator Phoenix Reisen has added Poole to its list of calls for the first time this year, their Deutschland (1998/22,400gt) visiting on 26 April with fleet mate Amera (1988/38,848gt) due to call next year.
