Saga Cruises celebrates Spirit of Adventure’s first anniversary and Spirit of Discovery’s third

During July 2022 Saga Cruises marked the first anniversary of Spirit of Adventure’s maiden voyage on 26 July and Spirit of Discovery’s third anniversary on 10 July.

Despite Covid-19, Spirit of Discovery has already undertaken 145,000 nautical miles, completed 48 cruises and visited 273 destinations, while Spirit of Adventure has operated just under 80,000 nautical miles, undertaken 23 cruises and visited 144 destinations.

By the ships’ anniversaries, guests have enjoyed nearly 2,825 excursions from Spirit of Discovery and 1,617 from Spirit of Adventure.

And although the boutique ships are small with a capacity of just 987 guests, every need has been catered for with a total of 36.9 million meals served and 668,000 bottles of wine poured across both vessels since they undertook their inaugural cruises.

Gin and tonic tops the poll for the most popular alcoholic drink and filet steak is the top meal choice on board the ships. Guests also make their way through 3,100 cups of tea a day and since the ships began sailing some 5.7 million eggs, 9,200kg of lobster, 13,500kg of Dover sole and a whopping 190,000kg of smoked salmon have been served!

The state-of-the-art on-board gyms have helped travellers burn off the calories and 12,000 guests have made use of the beautiful spas to enjoy the top treatment of acupuncture.
