CRUISE & MARITIME: New flagship for 2015

Cruise & Maritime Voyages has chartered the 46,052grt Grand Holiday from the Carnival Corporation for the 2015 and 2016 cruise season. Renamed Magellan, she will carry about 1,250 passengers and be the new flagship of the CMV fleet, which includes the classic cruise ships Marco Polo, Astor and Azores.

A new 2015 brochure has been released detailing Magellan’s inaugural CMV summer 2015 and winter 2015-16 programme. Special introductory fares will be on offer to launch the programme. The maiden CMV voyage will be a 12-night cruise to Iceland and the Faroes sailing from Tilbury on 15 March 2015. She will also be sailing from Newcastle Tyne.

Completed in 1985 by Aalborg Værft as Carnival’s Holiday, the ship was an enlarged version of Tropicale and the first in a new generation of Carnival ships. She was transferred to Carnival subsidiary Iberocruceros in 2009 and renamed Grand Holiday. PN
