CHEMICAL TANKER: Clipper vessels join CNAN

Algerian carrier Compagnie Nationale Algerienne de Navigation (CNAN) have acquired three multi-purpose vessels of 9,500dwt, built in 2011 and 2012, from Clipper Ships. A spokesman for Clipper said that the market for such vessels was still poor and was expected to remain so for some time to come. With this in mind, the opportunity to offload three fairly new multi-purpose vessels could not be missed. CNAN have acquired the three vessels as part of a long expected fleet renewal. Clipper reported that they had secured a good price for the vessels; otherwise they would not have sold them as they were not originally up for sale. In early October Clipper Grand was renamed Stidia and Clipper Gemini became Saoura. Both vessels are geared with two 200mt cranes. The third vessel, Clipper Galaxy, visited Immingham in early October, and by late October had become Sedrata. All three vessels loaded cargo at Antwerp for Algeria in late October, Sedrata also loading at Hamburg. All three 8,161gt sisters were built in 2011 in Zhoushan. RC
