Scotland is usually associated with bagpipes, but pipes of a different kind are now being imported into the Scottish port of Montrose. On 8 March the coaster Liv Kristin (pictured) arrived there from Norway with pipes for the oil industry. The 2,348dwt coaster, 80m in length, is ideal for this trade. After discharging her cargo, she sailed for Stavanger on 10 March. The 1984-built vessel had to make a hurried departure from Montrose, with her pilot being needed to bring in VOS Freedom, an anchor-handling tug that had recently towed a rig from West Africa to Invergordon. She had been at anchor off Aberdeen, but then went to Montrose, meaning the port had a busy day. RC
