Condor Liberation given the okay

In a media statement dated 15 October 2015 Condor Ferries welcomed an Independent Report by naval engineers and architects, Houlder Ltd, which has found that the ferry Condor Liberation is safe and stable, extremely well suited to operating in the Channel Islands, and is performing well.

The company has also agreed to implement all of the recommendations in the report.

The Houlder Report, which was published by joint commissioners, the States of Jersey and States of Guernsey, involved the team of naval architects in months of work which included travelling on the ship, inspecting her hull, analysing telemetry and AIS data, reviewing statutory documentation and visits to all the berths used by Condor Liberation.

Condor Ferries Executive Director – Operations, Captain Fran Collins said: ‘Condor Liberation is a superb ship and, whilst we recognise that there are still opportunities to improve, we are delighted to have her as part of our fleet.

‘This independent verification of her safety, suitability and performance is obviously very welcome. We accept all of the report’s findings and will implement its recommendations.

‘Because we want to ensure that we can maximise the benefit of Liberation’s excellent seakeeping, we will continue to review all aspects of our berthing operation to establish what further improvements can be made. As part of this, we welcome the commitments made by Guernsey Harbours and Ports of Jersey to review the fendering in their harbours.’
