Work on Condor Ferries’ latest acquisition, the 125m Condor Islander (2005/13,906gt), continued apace at Poole following her arrival on 4 August at the Dorset port for a complete internal refit by Trimline.
As well as the trialling of cargo loading operations at ro-ro 3 berth, new lifeboat engines were tested and the vehicle decks repainted and, during a Bank Holiday weekend visit to Southampton’s Empress Dock, it was noted that additional rubbing strakes had been welded to the port side superstructure.
Preparations for commercial service are expected to be concluded during October.
