Operator Odfjell expands tanker fleet

Norwegian chemical tanker operator Odfjell SE, a major player in the global seaborne transportation and storage of chemicals and other speciality bulk liquids, is expanding and renewing its fleet with six newbuilds through a combination of long-term time charter and pooling agreements with Japanese shipowners and shipyards.

This will see two 40,000dwt stainless steel chemical tankers with 28 tanks and four 26,000dwt ships with 24 tanks enter the Odfjell fleet between 2026 and 2027 following their completion by Japanese shipyards. All of the vessels will be capable of handling a wide range of speciality liquid products and Odfjell will retain purchase options on all six.

Odfjell received the 2023 Tanker Shipping and Trade’s ‘Environmental Award’ and ‘Tanker Operator of the Year Award’ in recognition of its sustainability results.
