NEW CRUISE SHIP: It’s a Breeze for Carnival

Carnival Cruise Lines’ next big ship, the 130,000gt Carnival Breeze, will enter service in June next year, starting with a series of 12-day Mediterranean voyages before repositioning to Miami, Florida in November for year-round six- and eight-day Caribbean departures. Like her predecessors, the newbuilding will offer a host of innovations, including expansive top-deck areas such as WaterWorks, an aqua park with water slides and other attractions; SportSquare, an open-air recreation complex with a ropes course, mini-golf and outdoor fitness area; The Lanai, a wraparound promenade with whirlpools extending over the ship’s sides; and a 270ft2 poolside LED screen displaying movies and other programming. The US$740 million ship, being completed at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard, will also feature the RedFrog Pub, while other dining highlights will include an Italian-themed restaurant. Following its 2012 summer European schedule, Carnival Breeze will sail on a 15-day transatlantic crossing, departing Barcelona on 6 November and arriving in Miami 21 November, 2012 for a series of six-day cruise programmes.
