CLASSIFICATION: WTIV newbuilds

Germany’s Germanischer Lloyd (GL) has become the leading classification society for Wind Turbine Installation Vessels (WTIVs) after having secured mandates for newbuilding classification on 16 WTIVs being built. These include projects by Swire Blue Ocean and Beluga Hochtief Offshore. Ithas been predicted that the next five to ten years should see a steep rise in the specialist WTIV fleet for offshore wind farms, and European offshore wind parks are expected to need 15 to20 new installation ships.
