CARGO VESSEL: New feeder vessel

Canada Feeder Lines (CFL) is a Dutch shipping company founded in 2006. Going against the prevailing trend towards consolidating the company under Dutch management, Dutch-built vessels flying the Dutch flag have succeeded with several new vessels. The company anticipated a growing market in the short-sea segment and felt that short sea’s share of the total sector will grow faster than any other. There is also an increased demand for dry bulk shipping able to transport containers and project cargoes of variable dimensions to ports that demand low draught, have extreme climatic conditions or are hard to reach due to lack of sufficient handling capacity.

With the Dutch Peters Shipyards as their partner, they built nine Jumbo 6500s (with a capacity of 6,500dwt), and now a new Sole 10,000 series (10,000dwt) is being built. Momentum Scan was the first of these to be delivered, and on 11 March the second vessel, Marvel Scan, was launched at the Peters yard. The 6,693gt vessel measures 116.26m by 17.8m by 7.81m and can carry up to 419TEU.
