CARNIVAL CRUISES: Year-round from the Big Apple

Norwegian Cruise Line has been operating from New York year-round since 2003. At the time, Carnival Cruise Line scoffed at the idea, saying passengers would prefer to join their ship in Miami and have more time in the sun. Eight years on and CCL has now changed its mind. While it has had a seasonal summer presence out of New York over the years, sailing to the Caribbean and Canada/New England, the line is to base Carnival Miracle (2004 /85,600gt) year-round in the city as from April 2012.

Between April and October, she will feature two alternating eight-night itineraries, one to the Eastern Caribbean, calling at San Juan, St Thomas and Grand Turk, the other to the Bahamas, visiting Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk and Nassau. In November her schedule changes, with an eight-night itinerary calling at Port Canaveral, Nassau and Freeport.
