COASTAL CRUISER: Gainfully employed

The 2001-built US coastal cruiser Cape May Light, which was used for emergency accommodation in the Caribbean last year following the earthquake in Haiti, found new employment this summer in Canada’s Hudson Strait as an accommodation ship. The vessel was used as a floating hostel for workers who were building a new wharf for nickel ore exports at Deception Bay in the Nunavik region of Quebec. The 226-passenger Cape May Light and sister Cape Cod Light were caught up in the bankruptcy of American Classic Voyages in 2001.
