FAST FERRY: Condor 10 leads way to South Korea

As well as Stena Lynx III, another well-known UK-based fast craft has left for South East Asia, Condor 10 departing Weymouth for Malta in the final week of September on a delivery voyage to new owners understood to be South Korea’s Jang Heung Ferry.

Condor’s first vehicle-carrying fast craft when debuting between Weymouth and Guernsey and Jersey in April 1993, the 74m Incat also undertook summer charters to Viking Line for Helsinki-Tallinn service in 1995 and Stena Line on the Irish Sea in 1996.

Condor 10 made a number of long trips to New Zealand to run for Tranz Rail between Wellington and Picton during southern hemisphere summers. She went back to the Tasmania base of builder Incat for a major refit during 2001, returning to Condor to operate from the Channel Islands to St Malo in 2002. Able to carry 572 passengers and 80 cars, she has been out of service since briefly returning in summer 2010.
