Ships Monthly January 2017 issue now out

The latest issue of Ships Monthly is out now. Features include the story of the rapid design and construction of battleship HMS Dreadnought by Paul Brown, and a review of the last cargo liners built for Cunard’s North Atlantic services by Roy Fenton.

Out eight-page maritime museum focus profiles the maritime museums on England’s east coast and looks at the Marine Museum in Den Helder, which has a fine collection of ships and artefacts relating to Dutch naval history.

Out continuing focus on DFDS celebrating its 150th anniversary covers the company’s six-ship service out Dover, its freight operations, including the Flower class vessels, and a full fleet list by Russell Plummer.

The ferry theme is continued with a look at the prestigious passenger services across the North Sea operated from Gothenburg to various UK ports by Kalle Id.

And Ship of the Month turns the spotlight on Koningsdam, Holland America Line’s biggest ever ship and the first of the new Pinnacle class cruise ships, a ship which Peter Knego recently visited.

Plus all the latest news in our regular columns covering the ferry, cruise and cargo scenes.
