Ten more years at Portsmouth for Brittany Ferries

Brittany Ferries is to continue as the principal user of Portsmouth International Ferry after Portsmouth City Council leader Donna Jones signed what is described as a ‘lucrative deal’ covering the next ten years.

The new agreement replaced a contract which expired at the end of December 2016 and runs through to 2027. Brittany Ferries expressed delight as well, with a spokesman commenting: ‘We’re very happy with the deal, which follows careful negotiation with our partners at the City Council. The deal is good for the people of Portsmouth and good for ferry travellers.’

Brittany Ferries is the International Port’s only continuous customer since the opened in 1976 and the operater currently sees cruise ferries Bretagne, Cap Finistere, Mont St Michel, Normandie and Pont-Aven running to ports in France and Northern Spain, with seasonal high-speed links by catamaran Normandie Express to Cherbourg and ‘Economie’ services to Le Havre and Santander by ro-pax vessels Baie-de-Seine and Étretat.
