ROYAL CARIBBEAN: Cutback in Europe

Royal Caribbean International will position nine ships in Europe for the 2013 summer season, down from a peak of 12 in 2012. Newly announced itineraries for Vision of the Seas (1998/78,340gt) see the ship based in Copenhagen and Stockholm from May to August.

Meanwhile, Legend of the Seas (1995/69,130gt) will operate from Civitavecchia and Venice during the same period, joining Barcelona-based Liberty of the Seas (2007/154,407gt) and Serenade of the Seas (2003/90,090gt), and the Italian-based Navigator of the Seas (2002/138,279gt) and Splendour of the Seas (1996/69,130gt) in the company’s most comprehensive programme in the region to date.

With the three ships based in the UK, Independence of the Seas (2008/154,407gt), Adventure of the Seas (2001/137,276gt) and Brilliance of the Seas (2002/90,090gt), a total of 276 European cruises will be on offer. Enchantment of the Seas (1997/82,910gt) will replace Monarch of the Seas (1991/73,937gt) on year-round itineraries from Port Canaveral.
