SAGA CRUISES: Saga Sapphire resumes service

Following the breakdown and subsequent repairs to the cooling system on her port engine, Saga Sapphire (1981/37,301gt) returned to Southampton on 6 May ready to resume her schedule. Unfortunately, the three-ship event in Lisbon on 3 May did not quite run to plan, as Saga Ruby (1973/24,292gt) was running a day late due to steering problems that were discovered in Southampton prior to sailing, and, although Saga Sapphire arrived in Lisbon on time, she was without passengers. As a result, the Lesley Garrett concert that had been organised shoreside actually took place on Saga Pearl II (1981/18,627gt). This ship also returned to Southampton on 6 May and sailed later that day under her new name, Quest for Adventure. She is the replacement for Spirit of Adventure (1980/9,570gt), which completed her final cruise for Saga in Civitavecchia on 4 May. A week later, in Genoa, she was handed over to a new German cruise operator, FTI, for whom she is sailing under charter as FTI Berlin. Her first cruise began on 21 May.
