EUROPA 2 takes to the water in France

Just four months after the keel was laid on Hapag Lloyd Cruise’s new ship Europa 2 the hull touched water for the first time at a float out ceremony held at STX France in Saint-Nazaire on 6th July. Now begins the next construction phase – outfitting the steel hull and superstructure with cabins, public room and open decks. EUROPA 2 will feature eleven decks, all-suites with their own outdoor verandas and the largest space per passenger ratio in the cruise industry. In total there will be 251 all-balcony suites, 8 restaurants, 6 bars and a theatre.

835 shipyard workers are involved in the build, providing over2.5 million hours of labour, using 10,000 tonnes of steel. The ship is expected to be delivered to Hapag-Lloyd Cruises at the end of April 2013, and her 14-day maiden voyage from Hamburg to Lisbon will take place from 11 until 25 May 2013.

EUROPA 2 will feature eleven decks, all-suites with their own outdoor verandas, and the largest space per passenger ratio in the cruise industry. All of the cruises of the EUROPA 2 will be international, meaning they will be conducted in both German and English for the duration of all cruises. An English-language brochure will be published in the autumn of 2012.
