CELEBRITY CRUISES: Final ship of the quintet

The final ship in the Solstice class of five ships, built for Celebrity Cruises by Jos. L. Meyer at Papenburg, was floated out from her building dock on 12 August. Celebrity Reflection is a little different from her older sisters, as she has 16 decks rather than 15, thus pushing her gross tonnage up from around 122,000 to an estimated 126,000.

Following her float-out, Celebrity Reflection had her mast and funnels fitted while alongside in the yard and later became a backdrop for the Papenburg Festival on 8 September. At the time of writing, she was then due to make her way along the river Ems to Eemshaven in mid-September for finishing touches and her sea trials. On 12 October the new ship is scheduled to begin her maiden voyage, starting in Amsterdam and finishing in Barcelona ten days later. Two Mediterranean cruises follow before Celebrity Reflection re-positions to Miami for a winter season of Eastern Caribbean itineraries.
