NEWBUILD: First LNG coaster

The world’s first LNG-powered coaster, the 2,650dwt fish food carrier Høydal, has entered service along the Norwegian coast following completion by the Tersan Shipyard in Turkey. Owned by Norway’s NSK Shipping, the 70m by 16m newbuilding has been placed on long-term charter to BioMar of Norway following the fitting of a Graintec Cargo rapid discharge system. A maximum speed of 14 knots is provided by a single Rolls-Royce Bergen C25:33L6P engine of 1,650kW.
