Northern Isles – Interior upgrading for Serco’s Northlink pair

Serco Northlink Ferries is making major upgrades to the public areas of Hrossey and Hjaltland, the vessels introduced in 2002 to cover Aberdeen-Kirkwall-Lerwick services and direct Aberdeen-Lerwick sailings. The biggest change is amidships, where the à la carte restaurant becomes a premium lounge (accessible for an extra charge), with the café area, converted to offer a gastro-pub-type dining experience.

The midships bar is extended, while the forward bar’s port and starboard seating areas receive new forward-facing reclining seats. Serco NorthLink managing director Stuart Garrett said: ‘We spoke to customers about what they want to see on board the ferries and have made investments based onthese comments.’
