Chantiers de l’Atlantique to build new Oasis class cruise ship for Royal Caribbean

On 18 February 2019 Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCL) gave confirmation of an order for Chantiers de l’Atlantique, according to a previous option agreement, to build a new Oasis class cruise ship, due for delivery in the autumn of 2023.

The new 2,857-cabin ship (hull A35) will belong, like her sister ships of the Oasis-Class, which are the largest cruise ships ever built.

Chantiers de l’Atlantique has already built the Oasis class ships Harmony of the Seas, delivered in May 2016, and Symphony of the Seas, delivered in March 2018, and will deliver a third Oasis vessel in spring 2021.

“It is such a pleasure to announce the order of another Oasis-class ship,” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “This order is a reflection of the exceptional performance of this vessel class and the extraordinary partnership between Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.”

‘At her delivery, she will be the 23rd  cruise ship built by our yard for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, and we are especially proud of it’, saud Laurent Castaing, General Manager, Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

‘The order reflects the confidence our customer puts on us, based on the exceptional quality of our long-term co-operation between the two companies and on our capacity to bring each time innovative solutions which meets our customer’s expectations.’

The ship will measure362m overall by 66m beam, have a gross tonnage of 231,000 and have 2,857 passenger cabins for up to 6,700 passengers.
