ROYAL CARIBBEAN: Oasis coming to Europe

One of the world’s largest cruise ships, RCI’s Oasis of the Seas, will undertake a small number of European cruises in September 2014 in conjunction with a visit to the Keppel Verolme shipyard in Rotterdam for dry-docking.

The ship will leave Fort Lauderdale on 1 September 2014 for a 12-night crossing to Barcelona, following which she will offer two five-night cruises from the Spanish port before making a seven-night sailing to Rotterdam. At the end of her maintenance visit, she sails from Rotterdam on a 14-night crossing back to Fort Lauderdale, with a call at Southampton.

As no suitable dry-docking facilities are available on the US East Coast, it is likely that her sister, Allure of the Seas, will also return to Europe for overhaul. Royal Caribbean has a near sistership to Oasis on order with the STX yard at St Nazaire, France, with an option on a second ship of the same size.
