NEW TANKER: Stena series completed

South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has delivered the 158,700dwt fuel-efficient Suezmax tanker Stena Sunrise to the Stena Bulk organisation in Sweden as the last in a series of seven similar ships which were ordered at the beginning of 2010.

All seven employ fuel-saving technology consisting of optimised hull lines, increased diameter propellers, bulb rudders and electronically-controlled de-rated main engines to achieve a minimum of 15 per cent lower bunker consumption compared with the most efficient conventional Suezmax tankers that arecurrently in service.

Stena Sunrise joins the previously delivered Stena Superior, Stena Suède, Montesperanza, MonteStena, Stena Supreme and AST Sunshine in the Stena Sonangol Suezmax Pool. JS
