Shortsea fleet changes for RES Group

In December 2020 the RES Group, now based in Brunsbüttel, Hamburg and Stettin, sold two of their older vessels, the 3,701dwt coasters Bekau and Ostenau (both 2005), to Navigare Shipping and Logistics in the Faroe Islands.

The new owner dry-docked the pair and fitted cranes to make them self-discharging, and the vessels were renamed Hav Vestlandia and Hav Nordlandia respectively under the Faroes flag.

Hav Vestlandia made a maiden voyage under her new name to Great Yarmouth from Sund (Faroe Islands), arriving at the East Anglian port on 13 January, the single deck vessel having a bulk capacity of 4,613m3.

The RES Group was founded in 1988 by Erwin Strahlmann, the present Managing Director. Specialising in bulk shipments RES quickly built up a fleet of multi-purpose dry cargo vessels which frequently visit UK ports. Roy Cressey
