58-year-old ferry Star N scrapped

The 58-year-old ferry Star N is under demolition at Aliaga, Turkey after an exceedingly long career which started in 1965 with the vessel’s completion by Germany’s Orenstein & Koppel for Norwegian shipowner Otto Thoresen as Viking III.

The 5,762gt ro-pax, which last operated between Tripoli, Libya and Zarzis, Tunisia at the beginning of this year, had previously sailed under the names Gabriel Scott, Sagafjord, Sandefjord, Fenno Star, Scandinavia, and Terje Vigen.
