BALTIC FERRY: Viking reaches five-million milestone

Viking Line’s fast ferry Viking XPRS has been a success since she entered the Helsinki-Tallinn route on 28 April 2008, and on 14 June she carried her five-millionth passenger, having reached the landmark in just over three years. She makes two crossover sailings between the Finnish and Estonian capitals daily, taking 150 minutes each way, and spends just 60 minutes in Helsinki but 12 hours altogether, including overnight, at Tallinn. She has a passenger capacity of 2,500 and 1.2km of vehicle lanes, with another car-only deck for 230. She has transported 568,000 cars and 140,000 trucks and trailers during the same period, and usually operates at full capacity all summer.
