Breakaway for the Big Apple

Norwegian Cruise Line’s new 4,000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway will be homeported in New York when she enters service in May 2013. Following an inaugural summer season sailing to Bermuda, she then embarks on weekly cruises to Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay (NCL’s private island) and Port Canaveral, until April 2014. New York will also be home for Norwegian Gem (2007/93,530gt), which will operate a weekly Bahamas programme during summer 2013 until October, when she is scheduled to sail nine-day cruises to the eastern Caribbean, also from New York.NCL makes a tentative return to the Mexican Riviera in October 2013, having dropped the region because of security concerns in Mexican ports. Norwegian Star (2001/91,740gt) will operate eight seven-day cruises during the winter, although most of the time she will be on 14-night Panama Canal cruises between Los Angeles and Miami.
