BRITTANY FERRIES: Portsmouth sailings boost

Following the start of its new Bilbao service on 27 March, Brittany Ferries will build to a total of more than 40 departures a week from Portsmouth to three destinations in France and two in Spain using five conventional vessels and Normandie Express.

Cap Finistere (2000/32,728gt) had 31 additional cabins fitted during a February dry-docking and now offers a total of 914 berths in 275 cabins for passengers, departing on Sunday or Friday to Bilbao and on Wednesdays to Santander. There is also a Sunday sailing to Santander by Pont-Aven.

Portsmouth-Caen stalwart Normandie (1992/27,541gt), now approaching two decades of service on the route, retuned from dry-docking by Remontowa at Gdansk, Poland, with a slightly changed livery. There is now a greater area of blue on the lower hull from the bridge to the stern, as carried by the Portsmouth-St Malo route’s Bretagne (1989/24,534gt) since 2009.
